Mark E. Shepherd, 71, shot his wife Diane L. Shepherd, 63, and then himself in their home on the 300 block of Sun Hill Road in Penn Township, bringing police to the scene just after 4 a.m., Northern Lancaster County Regional Police said.

The couple's extended family was inside the home at the time of the incident. They told police that they awoke to a loud domestic-related argument between Mark and Diane occurring in a separate part of the home. Multiple gunshots were heard and both Mark and Diane were found dead, according to police.

The NLCRPD, Lancaster County Coroner’s Office, and the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office are collectively investigating details associated with the case.
